| At Soul Train Yoga we are passionate about life and yoga and believe that yoga should be accessible to everyone, regardless of age, flexibility or body condition. Our mission is to create a nurturing community, rich in compassion, fun, love and laughter, where together we can grow and become inspired to be the best we can be. Soul Train Yoga - Asana (Postures) Philosophy Yoga should be accessible to everyone. Postures should be dynamic enough to cater to each individuals body type and condition. There is a standard version of the pose that we're aiming for but we will all experience that pose differently; due to our proportions, flexibilities and mental/emotional condition. We need to work with what we have and make adjustments according to where we are. "Man the living creature, the creating individual, is always more important than any established style or system" Bruce Lee At Soul Train Yoga we teach the individual, we need to reach out of the box of what's the "right way", because what is the right way for one, may not be the right way for another. That's the beauty of yoga, we can all be working to our own level but together in the class. Teaching Style: Hatha The teaching style is positive and friendly, everyone is made to feel welcome! Based on Hatha Yoga, Soul Train Yoga classes are strong classes that incorporate meditation, pranayama (breathwork), yoga philosophy and an understanding of anatomy & physiology into the practice. To bring balance to your body and mind classes focus equally on creating both strength and flexibility. Yoga is about your experience and while there is a strong focus on alignment, students are encouraged to explore each pose. "I am not teaching you anything. I just help you to explore yourself" Bruce Lee All of the postures are introduced as new, then the more advanced students are instructed into the extended versions of the pose. The classes intend to leave you feeling strong, centered and re-energised. Listen to Podcast class here! About the Teacher - ALISON RITCHIE Alison is a registered yoga teacher with Yoga Australia. Alison has a 500+ hour Advanced Diploma in Yoga Teaching from The Australian Yoga Academy and additional 500 hours Foundation & Intermediate teacher training certificates. Alison has a daily personal yoga and meditation practice and is dedicated to the lifelong learning journey of yoga. Originally from Scotland, Alison is based in Cairns, but travels interstate to run yoga and wellness workshops and courses. Qualifications: Over 3000 hours of teaching experience Advanced Diploma of Yoga Teaching, Australian Yoga Academy, Prahran. Specialist subjects: Qualified to teach prenatal & postnatal, kids and seniors yoga. Intermediate Teaching Certificate 2010 10 day silent meditation retreat - Suan Mokkh 2010 Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Australia First Aid Level I & CPR Auryvedic Intro to Nutrition Honors Degree in Physics (Heriot-Watt University, Scotland). | About the Teacher - INA BECKER As Alison is now based in Cairns, Soul Train Yoga is delighted to have Ina Becker on board to teach the weekly classes in St Kilda. Ina has practised yoga for 11 years and has an Advanced Diploma in Yoga Teacher from The Australian Yoga Academy. Ina has a daily personal yoga and meditation practice and passionately continues her studies in Vinyasa Yoga today with her teacher Prahlad at The Yoga Arts Academy. Ina also holds a Level One Prana Healing Certificate. Ina has a positive and friendly teaching style which focuses on the individual's personal journey, encouraging each student to get the most out of the class. Ina teaches a strong balanced class, building strength and creating space in the body. Classes incorporate elements of Ina's passion for Powerflow and Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga. Ina's friendly approach and clear instruction makes yoga accessible to everyone. Whether students have a strong practice or students are new to yoga everyone gets the best out of their time in the class. |
