Restore... Bond...Connect... Mums and Bubs Yoga is a time for you to connect again with your body, a place for you and your baby to bond, a place for inward reflection and a chance to meet other new Mums. In the class we go through as series of poses for Mum & Baby together, some for just Mum and some for just baby. For Mum we will go through some gentle postures focusing on strengthening the pelvic floor, the abdominals, the legs and the back and easing tension from the neck and shoulders. For baby, we'll look at movement to aid digestion and techniques to relax and calm the baby. All of the classes will include breathing, relaxation and meditation techniques. There is no expectation for your baby to "behave" in a certain way and you will be welcome to join in the class after it has started if you're running a bit late! If you need to feed or change your baby during the class, that's fine too! All you need to bring is yourself, your baby, a blanket to put on your yoga mat, a baby blanket and a bottle of water. Wear clothing you can move easily in. All yoga mats are provided, but please feel free to bring your own if you have one. As numbers are limited, classes are paid for in 5 class passes, valid over 10 weeks. Classes are suitable for Mums with Bubs newborn to almost crawling. IMPORTANT: It is important that you have consent from your GP to start exercising again after the birth of your baby. As a rule of thumb postnatal yoga can be started 6-8 weeks after a natural birth and around 10-12 weeks after a caesarian, with consent from your GP and as long as you are feeling up to it. Beginners to Advanced welcome. Alison is a Registered Yoga Teacher in Australia with an Advanced Diploma in Yoga Teaching from The Australian Yoga Academy and is qualified to teach prenatal and postnatal yoga. |
